Helio Genomics has strengthened its Board of Directors with the addition of Parminder (Parry) Bhatia, a widely recognized artificial-intelligence leader, in a move aimed at accelerating its mission to detect cancer earlier. As a California-based company specializing in AI-enhanced precision diagnostics for liver cancer, Helio sees the appointment as a strategic step toward advancing its early-detection technology and widening its impact on patient care.
Bhatia serves as Senior Vice President of Artificial Intelligence at Edwards Lifesciences, where he has concentrated on building responsible AI frameworks inside a highly regulated healthcare setting. He previously held the role of Chief AI Officer at GE HealthCare, driving AI strategy across medical devices and software, and earlier contributed to healthcare AI and machine-learning work at Amazon, Microsoft and Georgia Tech. His achievements have earned recognition from Modern Healthcare’s 40 Under 40 and Constellation Research, and he holds a computer science degree from the Indian Institute of Technology along with a machine-learning-focused master’s from Georgia Tech.
For Helio’s leadership, the appointment is about the road ahead. CEO Dr. Bharat Tewarie said Bhatia’s leadership and innovative approach to AI will be critical as the company scales its work to improve early cancer detection worldwide. Bhatia, for his part, pointed to the value of combining artificial intelligence with multiomic data to sharpen tools such as HelioLiver — the company’s blood test for the early detection of hepatocellular carcinoma — and, ultimately, to improve outcomes for patients.
Helio Genomics develops blood-based diagnostics that apply machine learning and deep learning to identify cancer biomarkers, giving clinicians faster, clearer information to act on.
