Helio Genomics has appointed Parminder “Parry” Bhatia — Senior Vice President of Artificial Intelligence at Edwards Lifesciences — to its Board of Directors. The move brings a seasoned healthcare-AI executive onto the board as the precision diagnostics company expands its AI-driven platform for early cancer detection and disease monitoring. It comes as Helio continues scaling its blood-based platform, which pairs multiomics, liquid biopsy technology and machine learning to support earlier detection of liver cancer, disease surveillance and precision medicine.
Bhatia brings deep experience deploying artificial intelligence in regulated healthcare environments. At Edwards Lifesciences, he leads AI initiatives across the medical-technology company, and he previously served as Chief AI Officer at GE HealthCare, where he helped shape enterprise AI strategy across imaging, ultrasound and software products while contributing to the company’s responsible-AI governance framework. Earlier, he held AI and machine-learning leadership roles at Amazon — including work in healthcare and generative AI — as well as positions at Microsoft and the Georgia Institute of Technology. He has been recognized by Modern Healthcare’s 40 Under 40, CDO Magazine and Constellation Research, and holds degrees from the Indian Institute of Technology and Georgia Tech.
“Parminder’s leadership in healthcare AI and responsible innovation will be invaluable as Helio scales its platform to detect cancer earlier and improve outcomes for patients worldwide,” said Dr. Bharat Tewarie, chief executive officer of Helio Genomics. Bhatia said Helio’s technology illustrates how AI can enhance the clinical value of multiomics and liquid biopsy testing — particularly for hepatocellular carcinoma, the most common form of primary liver cancer, where earlier diagnosis can meaningfully influence patient outcomes. He added that he sees opportunities to combine biological and clinical data using advanced machine learning and foundation models to extend the platform beyond early detection into disease monitoring, treatment response and precision medicine.
Helio Genomics is a commercial-stage TechBio company developing AI-powered diagnostics for early cancer detection and minimal residual disease monitoring. Its blood-based platform applies machine learning and deep learning across multiple biomarkers to help clinicians identify cancer earlier and support more personalized treatment decisions.
